There are four traits of a successful website.

The second depends on the first and the third depends on the second. If the first is missing, the website doesn’t work at all. If the first is present and the second missing, the website still does not work. If the first two are present and only the third trait is missing, there is some activity, but the website has no business value.

It can be compared with a restaurant. You may have the most beautiful restaurant, an exquisite menu and low prices, but if there are no visitors, it has no value.

Your website needs visitors and page views
	A beautifully designed website does not guarantee visitors. Your website needs to be structured in the right way so that search engines can index it easily and know what it is about. Many website visits originate from search engine results. If your restaurant attracts many visitors, they spend time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and scenery, get up and leave; you won’t be making any money. You at least want your guests to read your menu.
Engagement
	You want your website visitors to engage with your website – read your “menu”. If visitors to your website reach the first page and bounce off, your website does not serve any purpose. Your website must be structured in such a way that visitors can easily find the information they are looking for, what the business is about, services rendered, and answer the “what-is-in-it-for-me” question. Quality content, a good layout, user friendliness and easy navigation are key issues. If your restaurant attracts many visitors, they spend time to read the menu and use your free Wi-Fi, get up and leave without placing an order; you won’t be making any money. You at least want your guests to order food.
Lead Generation
	You want your website to generate business leads or, depending on your type of service, orders for your products or services. Many websites attract visitors, visitors engage with the website pages but leave without placing an order or requesting more information.
Visual Appeal
	Visual appeal is an extremely important aspect of web design. A powerful key to attract attention and get visitors to engage with your website. We like to look at pretty things and if we have the choice, we always prefer an attractive design or image over an ugly or neutral one.
